Notre Dame Football Star Announces NFL Draft Decision

(Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)Notre Dame wide receiver Miles Boykin, who led the Fighting Irish in all three major receiving categories this season, is forgoing his senior season and entering the 2019 NFL Draft.Boykin made the announcement this afternoon on Twitter. He becomes the third Irish underclassman to declare for the draft this week, along with cornerback Julian Love and tight end Alize Mack.On the contrary, Notre Dame standout defensive linemen Khalid Kareem and Julian Okwara announced they would be returning to school in 2019.“Notre Dame will always hold a special place in my heart because of the memories, both good and bad, that I’ve experienced,” Boykin wrote on Twitter. “I’m forever changed for the better.☘️☘️☘️ pic.twitter.com/wE4gu61hlI— Miles Boykin (@MBoykin814) January 6, 2019Notre Dame wished Boykin luck from its official football Twitter account shortly after his announcement.Thank you for a very special four years, @MBoykin814. We’re so excited to watch you show the world what you’ve got on Sundays.Love Thee, forever. #GoIrish ☘️ pic.twitter.com/9aQXbow3QR— Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) January 6, 2019Boykin led the Irish with 59 catches, 872 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, helping Notre Dame go 12-0 in the regular season and reach the College Football Playoff.After redshirting in 2015 and quiet regular seasons in 2016 and 2017, Boykin exploded onto the scene in the Citrus Bowl following the 2017 campaign.That was when he hauled in the game-winning touchdown pass from Ian Book to beat LSU.Even with Boykin going pro, Notre Dame’s receiving corps should be well-stocked next season with the return of Chase Claypool and Chris Finke and tight ends Cole Kmet and Brock Wright.last_img
